Wet rot is caused by fungi which thrive in damp conditions. Excessive condensation or lateral damp can be the root cause of any wet rot. At Damp2Dry we first identify the source of the problem and ensure that any necessary damp proofing is effected before replacing any damaged wood with new timber which has been fully treated. The fungi which cause wet rot can release spores into the air which often cause health problems so it is essential that any wet rot is fully investigated and eradicated.

Dry rot is also caused by excess moisture in the form of water leaking onto wood or by wood being too near to damp walls. Dry rot results in wood literally crumbling away. High humidity and lack of air flow can also contribute to dry rot.

Once again, Damp2Dry will ensure that any leaks or areas of damp are thoroughly investigated and rectified before replacing and disposing of any contaminated timber. All new timber will be thoroughly treated with a fungicide to prevent any recurrence of the problem.

Damp2Dry have many years of experience in dealing with both wet and dry rot.
